Your own stag house

Room for the whole stag, and then some

Finding a house big enough for 30 or 40 lads is hard. Hamps Hall and Barn sleeps 40 across 18 bedrooms, mostly twins, so nobody draws the short straw and shares a double.

Spend the day at Alton Towers, on the Manifold Track or doing archery and axe throwing in the field next door. Then fire up the BBQ, get into the hot tubs and carry on in the 50-foot barn with the house sound system.

It’s self-catering, so bring your own drinks at shop prices, get a chef or hog roast in, or wander down to the Red Lion for a pint.

Stag do FAQs

Is there a minimum age for stag groups?
Yes. Groups need to be aged 30 or over, unless it’s a multi-generational family gathering.

Does Hamps Hall and Barn accept stag parties?
Yes. Hamps Hall and Barn is a private, exclusive-use house for up to 40, and it’s a favourite for big stag groups. Guests have brought groups of 30 to 35 for stag weekends.

How many bedrooms are there?
There are 18 bedrooms: 6 doubles, 9 twins, 2 triples and a quad, giving 34 individual beds so most of the group won’t need to share a bed. There are 12 bath and shower rooms.

Is there a hot tub?
Yes, two five-person hot tubs in the Hamps Barn garden. They can take a few hours to heat up after you arrive if other guests stayed the night before.

Can we bring a DJ or speakers?
DJs plug into the house sound system in the barn. External speakers aren’t allowed, and amplified music is only allowed inside the barn.

Can a coach or minibus get to the house?
Full-size coaches can’t get up the lane, so plan a short walk (about 10 minutes) to a nearby meeting point.

Is there a pub nearby?
Yes. The Red Lion at Waterfall is a short walk from the house, and there are more pubs in Waterhouses, Ashbourne and Leek. See our pubs guide.
