Accessibility at Hamps Hall and Barn
Making the house work for everyone
We want everyone to be able to join the celebration, so we adapted Hamps Barn for guests with limited mobility.
On the ground floor of the barn there are four twin bedrooms, a fully accessible wet room with handrails and two more bath and shower rooms. The 50-foot living room, the kitchen and the dining room are all step-free, and the rear garden can be reached from the dining room without steps.
Hamps Hall is an older building with steps to every bedroom, so it isn’t suitable for wheelchair users. Please read our accessibility statement for door widths and full details, or get in touch. You’re welcome to visit before you book.

Accessible days out nearby
Several of the old railway lines nearby are now flat, traffic-free trails, ideal for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The Manifold Track starts in Waterhouses, and at Parsley Hay Cycle Hire you can pre-book hand-cranked bikes, Tramper mobility scooters and all-terrain electric wheelchairs.

Are there ground-floor bedrooms?
Yes. Hamps Barn has four twin bedrooms on the ground floor, next to three ground-floor bath and shower rooms.
Is there an accessible bathroom?
Yes. There’s a fully accessible wet room with handrails on the ground floor of Hamps Barn, next to a twin bedroom.
Can a wheelchair get around the ground floor?
The barn’s living room, kitchen and dining room are step-free, with a slight ramp from the corridor into the dining room. Doors are at least 70cm wide, but extra-wide wheelchairs may not fit into the dining room. Please check the accessibility statement for measurements.
Is Hamps Hall accessible too?
Hamps Hall is an older building with steps to all its bedrooms, so it isn’t suitable for wheelchair users. The accessible rooms are all in Hamps Barn.
Is there parking close to the door?
Yes. The entrance to Hamps Barn is flat, with a parking space right outside if you need it.
Do you have alarms for guests who are hard of hearing?
Yes. We can provide a Deafguard, which goes under the pillow and vibrates if the fire alarm sounds. Just let us know before you arrive.
