A big house for the whole pack
Your dog is part of the family, so they should come on holiday too. Hamps Hall and Barn welcomes all breeds, however large or energetic, and we don’t limit you to just one dog.
The house sits on a quiet lane with almost no passing traffic, with several acres of field for ball games and runarounds. Footpaths lead from the front door into the Hamps Valley and on to the Manifold Valley and Dovedale.
Downstairs floors are hard and easy to clean, so muddy paws after a walk are no problem.

- All breeds welcome, at £40 per dog
- Please add your dogs when you book
- Dogs aren’t allowed on the furniture or in the bedrooms
- Please clear up after your dog in the gardens and on walks
- Keep dogs on a lead around sheep and cattle
Bring their bed, bowls, a towel and plenty of poo bags. We recommend OS Explorer map OL24, The White Peak, for planning walks.

The Manifold Track
A flat, traffic-free trail along the old railway line to Thor’s Cave.
Dovedale
The stepping stones and Thorpe Cloud, about 20 minutes away.
Ilam Park
National Trust parkland with riverside walks where dogs are welcome on leads.
Tissington Trail
A long, flat former railway line from Ashbourne, great for dog walks.

Are dogs allowed at Hamps Hall and Barn?
Yes. Dogs of all breeds and sizes are welcome, and we don’t limit you to just one. There’s a cleaning charge of £40 per dog.
Where can dogs go in the house?
Dogs are welcome downstairs, where the floors are hard and easy to clean. Please keep them off the furniture and out of the bedrooms, and bring a throw if they’re used to sofas at home.
Is there somewhere for dogs to run?
Yes. The house is on a quiet lane with very little traffic, there are several acres of field for ball games, and footpaths lead from the door into the Hamps and Manifold valleys.
Are there dog-friendly pubs nearby?
Yes. The Red Lion at Waterfall, a short walk away, welcomes dogs, and Ye Olde Crown Inn in Waterhouses is popular with walkers.
Where can I buy dog food?
There’s a village shop about a mile away, and pet shops and supermarkets in Ashbourne and Leek. Bring their usual food if they’re fussy.
Which walks are good for dogs?
The Manifold Track is flat and traffic-free, and Dovedale, Ilam Park and the Tissington Trail are all popular dog walks. Keep dogs on a lead around sheep and cattle.
